Wild to Wonderful Gardens is a well-established, friendly, family-run garden design and landscaping company in South Oxfordshire with over 20 years of design experience. We provide comprehensive garden project services, from design to hard landscaping and planting for a range of clients, mainly in residential domestic gardens.
We are passionate about what we do and are looking for a designer to join our team who will share our environmentally-friendly ethos and join us to produce beautiful, deeply considered, detailed work for our customers. You will be working alongside our experienced Design Director to learn how to create innovative and creative concepts and bespoke designs for beautiful residential gardens, which will then be built by our teams of in-house landscapers to bring our customers’ dream gardens to life, allowing you to see your designs come to life in real time from start to finish.
Role and Responsibilities
* You will work on a wide variety of projects from design consultation meeting through to delivery, assisting in the design and development of garden projects from concept to completion.
* Attending initial design consultancy sessions, creating build quotations and briefs.
* Performing site surveys and drawing up to allow accurate design preparation.
* Producing design drawings, sketches, mood boards, and 3D visualisations to present to customers and inform landscaping teams.
* Supporting the preparation of client presentations and project documentation.
* Attending site meetings and following up in accordance.
* Researching and selecting suitable plants, materials, and landscaping elements using input from the in-house team and suppliers.
* Creating marketing materials for stand and attending exhibitions.
* Producing plant lists and nursery specifications.
* Taking plant deliveries and setting out plants on site.
* Liaison and communication with customers, suppliers and team members.
Skills Required
* Excellent verbal and written communication and good listening skills.
* Creativity, vision and adapting ideas to suit customer briefs, budget and site constraints.
* Knowledge of plants and the ability to produce planting schemes is preferred.
* A genuine interest in horticulture, ecology, wildlife and understanding people.
* Flexible, personable with the ability to work as a team or independently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes.
* Experience in CAD/Vectorworks beneficial.
* Some garden design experience is preferred but not essential.
* Proactive and motivated with a positive professional attitude and appearance.
* Excellent communication, organisation and management skills.
* Understanding of landscaping processes and landscaping materials preferred but not essential as training will be given.
* Full UK driving licence and own transport.
There will be opportunities to grow within the role to take on more involved projects as time and experience progress.
Benefits and Additional Details
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent.
28 paid holidays per calendar year.
This position is office- and site-based in the Didcot area working Monday to Friday with occasional optional exhibition work at weekends.
