Band Adult Specialist Neuromuscular Physiotherapist, Oxford University Hospitals
wte ( hours/week) permanent position
An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an experienced and dynamic physiotherapist to join the Oxford neuromuscular physiotherapy team for an interim period. The post holder will lead the delivery of physiotherapy for adults with muscle disease. The post is largely outpatient based but the post holder will be expected to liaise with and guide the acute physiotherapy team in the management of adult inpatients with muscle disease and local community therapy teams as required.
Main duties of the job
The Oxford Adult Muscle Service is a supra regional service supporting patients and families with neuromuscular disease. The service is split between adults and paediatrics. Both teams work closely together with patients and their families to provide a seamless handover between services.
Recent investment has seen the creation of the Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) Oxford Neuromuscular Centre. This research focussed centre leads translational research to benefit patients with neuromuscular disease. The centre brings opportunities for AHP research and with new therapies emerging for neuromuscular disease, this post offers a fantastic opportunity for an interested physiotherapist with relevant experience to be part of the changing landscape of neuromuscular diseases and to forge a career in this expanding field of physiotherapy.
The Oxford Adult Muscle Service team consists of a specialist neuromuscular consultant, neuromuscular and mitochondrial family care advisor, and highly specialist physiotherapist, who work collaboratively to deliver high quality holistic patient care.
