The T.E.A.M.@Severn works with learners who are unable to access school due to health and exceptional circumstances. The team works across the City in community settings and council buildings. They collaborate closely with learners, families, schools, EOTAS providers, other professionals within the LA, the Health Service, and other statutory and voluntary agencies in Cardiff. The purpose of the service is to provide a tailored, engaging education for our children and young people short term, as they transition into full-time education, training, or employment. Teachers and Skills and Support officers work in collaboration to provide the best possible outcomes for our children and young people.
About the Job
The teacher will join a team that is innovative in its approach, planning, and delivering bespoke lessons. The role of the teacher is to provide tailored and engaging lessons in line with the EOTAS curriculum that challenge and motivate the learners and enable them to progress.
The successful candidate will need to have a non-judgemental approach, demonstrating empathy and understanding as they will be working one-on-one and with groups of children, young people, and their families who may be experiencing challenges and trauma.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding educator who motivates all students to achieve their full potential through exceptional learning experiences. Maintaining high standards for both themselves and their students, they can foster an inspiring and dynamic learning environment. Possessing a strong understanding of the curriculum, they are dedicated to re-engaging learners and facilitating rapid progress after periods of disrupted learning. They are knowledgeable about Additional Learning Needs and their implications for teaching and learning, as well as the effects of trauma on learners. Their diverse skill set enables them to effectively support learners aged 5 to 19 years. The ability to offer a vocational subject would be desirable.
A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding is essential.
The ability to travel across Cardiff throughout the day is essential. The ability to drive a minibus is desirable.
Additional Information
This role is part-time at 4 days/0.8 FTE. The advertised salary is based on a full-time role (5 days/1.0 FTE). The actual salary will be lower than the advertised salary because of the part-time hours and weeks worked.
