Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a Street works inspector ( x2 ) to join the Traffic Management & Parking Team on a full time and permanent basis. This role will be based on site and the successful candidate will be expected to attend frequent site visits. As a Street works inspector, you will undertake the inspection, recording and reporting of street works, licenses, highway infrastructure and surface apparatus defects in accordance with street works legislation and associated regulations and codes of practice and other relevant highways legislation. You will issue notices and other relevant instructions in line with statutory requirements to utility companies, emergency services, contractors and other technical support resources, concerning defective street works including remedial measures to ameliorate dangerous street works and highway surface defects. You will carry out site visits as required to validate the accuracy of the Street manager data as supplied by the utility companies and in compliance with permit conditions. To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have: • Professional qualification or at least 2 years’ experience in a Highways / Street Works Inspection related field. • Good working knowledge and industry accreditation (in the form of City & Guild Supervisors qualification • An existing knowledge of materials used in highway construction • An existing knowledge of CAT 1, 2 & 3 defects Your application will not be considered if you do not have the New Roads & Street Works Act ( NRWSA ) certification.
