Job overview
To provide an effective, high quality Financial Management service to managers and clinicians. Provide monthly financial management reports, support and advice for managers, undertake financial analyses, and investigate queries. Ensure adherence to all relevant financial procedures and guidance.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide accurate and timely financial information to non-financial managers, incorporating both financial and non-financial data.
2. Responsible for producing draft budget statements for review by Finance Manager.
3. Maintain and update information in the finance systems, including the calculation of accruals and prepayments.
4. Review interfaces from other systems such as payroll and NHS Supplies and calculate recharge invoices.
5. Calculate pay costs for existing staff establishments and proposed developments.
6. Organise and undertake monthly meetings with budget holders to review financial statements and associated reports.
7. Highlight variances to budget managers and advise on causes.
8. Ensure the full commitment of expenditure within relevant accounting periods and assist in the month-end financial reporting process.
9. Act independently and show initiative under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Finance.
10. Provide administrative support to the Management Accounts team and the Deputy Chief Finance Officer.
11. Assist in sending out budget statements and nominal rolls as required by the financial reporting timetable.

Qualifications
* Qualified to AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) or nearing completion.
* Willing to work towards AAT Level 4 (or equivalent).
* Willing to undertake further training as applicable to the post.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in a relevant finance environment.
* Ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate useful finance information from large volumes of data in accordance with strict timetables.
* Experience of working to strict deadlines.
* Knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
* Ability to plan own workload to meet strict deadlines and reassess workload for changing priorities.
* Ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions while maintaining concentration.
* Knowledge of NHS Financial procedures.
* Knowledge of budgeting and planning.
* Understanding of financial transactions and accounting procedures.
