About Our Teams HVDC: HVDC (High-voltage direct current) is the most efficient way to transport electricity over long distances, and it is particularly beneficial for subsea transmission. Due to the increasing need to connect more remote renewable generation schemes, such as offshore wind farms, SSEN Transmission are working on a significant number of new HVDC schemes deployed in Great Britain over the coming years. This also includes work on our Eastern Green Link projects - planned HVDC submarine power cables from the East coast of Scotland to Northeast England to strengthen the National Grid. The two links combined will deliver 4 GW of renewable energy from Scottish wind farms to England. This is a Specialist Pathway seeking degrees in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
