They're looking to recruit a Quality Inspector (Derby City Centre) to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. What does the Quality Inspector role involve? Hours: 40 hours (Mon-Fri) : 10am - 6pm Salary: up to £15 p/h (up to £31,000) What duties will be included in this Quality Inspector role? Perform visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using precision measurement tools (e.g., callipers, micrometres and gauges). Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet specifications before use in production. Conduct functional tests to verify product compliance with specifications. Identify and report any deviations from quality standards. Complete random inspections of in process checks including density checks Conduct "Customer Eyes Overcheck" inspections and record all data Maintain accurate inspection records, including test results, defects, and corrective actions. Ensure that all shop-floor inspection paperwork is correctly completed and archived. Support with the creation and issuing of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Prepare and submit quality reports to the Quality Manager and Production Manager. Issue internal non-conformance documentation as necessary. Conduct random checks and audits during production to ensure adherence to quality procedures. Provide immediate feedback to operators and supervisors regarding quality issues. Assist in identifying root causes of defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve processes and rapidly resolve quality issues. To ensure the correct use of the quarantine process Participate in investigations to determine the cause of defects or non-conformance Compliance, Standards and Training: Ensure compliance with company quality policies, ISO9001:2015, industry standards, and customer requirements. Follow and enforce workplace safety regulations and environmental policies. Train production operators and other employees on quality standards, inspection procedures, and the correct use of measurement tools. Provide input during onboarding processes for new hires to ensure they understand quality expectations. Deliver targeted training sessions on product-specific quality requirements, defect recognition, and compliance standards. Teach employees how to identify and report non-conformances including driving use of the Quality STOP WORK process. Encourage employees to take ownership of quality checks during their work. Train employees on updated procedures or standards following root cause analysis or process improvements. Reinforce training when recurring quality issues are identified. What will you bring to the Quality Inspector role? At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a quality control or inspectors' role within a process driven manufacturing environment. At least 5 years of exposure to different stages of production, including raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final product inspection. Proficiency with inspection tools including callipers, micrometres, gauges and testing equipment. A minimum of 3 years of experience of working within an ISO9001:2015 accredited manufacturing business. Demonstrates a good level of competence in reading and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Demonstrates an ability to clearly explain complex quality concepts in simple terms to production operators. Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation and reports. Can demonstrate experience of root cause analysis and troubleshooting capabilities. Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail to identify and document defects accurately. Can demonstrate previous experience conducting training sessions or mentoring production employees on quality standards and procedures.
