Thalia Waste Management, a leader in innovative waste-to-energy solutions, is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Treatment Plant Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role supports our Operations Manager in the day-to-day operations of our Mechanical Treatment (MT) plant and tipping hall, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
Location: Isle of Wight Waste Recovery Park, PO30 5YS (fully site based)
Working Hours:
* Week 1: 6am - 2pm
* Week 2: 2pm - 10pm
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily operations of the MT plant and tipping hall, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
* Supervise and lead our team of Mechanical Treatment Operators and Sort Line Operatives, fostering a collaborative and safe working environment.
* Uphold the highest standards of Health & Safety, promptly addressing and reporting any concerns to maintain our commitment to a zero-incident workplace.
* Manage and execute Mechanical Treatment procedures and risk assessments in accordance with BSI standards, ensuring all operations meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and ensure the achievement of KPIs in line with our strategic business objectives, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the plant.
* Maintain diligent records and logs to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
* Liaise with third-party contractors and manage contracts, including offtakes, as directed by the Mechanical Treatment Lead, ensuring effective and beneficial partnerships.
Person:
* Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC) – WAMITAB scheme or equivalent (desirable)
* IoSH Managing Safely or equivalent (desirable)
Skills:
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of adapting to various computer-based systems.
* Knowledge of mobile plant and machinery operation and maintenance desirable.
Experience:
* Experience in the waste industry, particularly in operating mobile and Mechanical Treatment Plants, is highly desirable.
* Essential experience in people management or supervision, demonstrating strong leadership and team-building abilities.
