Job Summary:
We are looking for a proactive Junior Buyer to join our Procurement Team, supporting project material sourcing and supplier onboarding. In this role, you’ll manage procurement processes via the Asite platform, liaise with suppliers, and ensure all activities comply with company regulations. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their procurement skills within a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist Senior Buyers with developing Invitation to Tender packs in readiness to advertise to the marketplace and uploading opportunities to CompeteFor and Asite.
2. Assist with management of Tenders in the marketplace e.g., managing supplier clarifications, downloading supplier bids.
3. Work with technical leads and estimators to obtain quotes for products.
4. Raise purchase requisitions and ensure that any assigned purchasing requisitions are delivered in a timely manner and in line with the project requirements.
5. Record and report savings in accordance with established guidelines.
6. Engage and communicate efficiently with internal customers and other functions as necessary in executing project activities.
7. Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant VVB policies.
8. Assist the Buyers in expediting open purchase orders in order to ensure goods delivered on time.
9. Assist in resolving counts queries by analysing SAP and discussing with the supplier.
10. Conduct procurement activities in accordance with company and departmental procedures governance guidelines.
11. Support with monthly procurement reporting activities.
Person Specification:
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Essential:
1. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
2. Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Basic understanding of procurement processes.
5. Knowledge of SAP B1.
6. Basic understanding of a procurement/buying role within a business.
Qualifications:
Essential:
1. GCSEs (A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent.
2. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
3. Proactive and self-motivated.
4. Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
5. Team player, willing to contribute to the success of the team.
6. Experience working with suppliers.
7. Experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
8. Knowledge of the construction industry and its components.
