Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and organised Administrator to join the busy Maternity Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, providing essential administrative support to both staff and patients. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our Maternity Service. Working collaboratively with midwives and other healthcare professionals, you will support the administration of pathways across the Delivery Suite, Bracken Ward, Fern Ward, Willow Ward, and the Antenatal Clinic. As the first point of contact for many patients and families, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be responsible for managing your own workload, prioritising tasks, and using your initiative to support the unit's needs. Key responsibilities include booking appointments, managing patient admissions and discharges, and maintaining accurate records. Strong administrative and office skills are required, along with proficiency in computer systems and office procedures. Working Hours: This role requires a flexible approach to working shifts. The Maternity Unit provides administrative cover from: Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 20:00 Saturday & Sunday: 08:30 - 17:00 Shifts will be worked on a rotational basis. Respond to contact from the general public, GPs, internal clinicians, and other health and social care professionals in a helpful and pleasant manner, taking accurate messages where necessary and answering queries where possible. To adopt a constantly flexible team working approach to ensure that all individual and team objectives are completed efficiently and within given timescales. It is a fast paced environment where duties and priorities might change rapidly.
