The Role You will be responsible for preparing, delivering and evaluating operational training programs and work based assessments. What you will be doing: Reporting into the Training and Competence Manager, duties will include but are not limited to: Responsible for delivering safety critical training including track safety courses, driving courses, technical courses and specialist tools / equipment training. Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of learning programmes to ensure that key learning objectives are met. Deliver training and assessments for candidates undertaking vocational qualifications as part of an accredited learning program. Take responsibility for all planning of required training events allocated to you. This involves liaising with stakeholders to ensure that all resources and candidates are available for the delivery of a successful training even. Give timely and evidenced based assessment decisions to the candidate and their line managers. Feedback given as part of this process should be balanced and specific. Where delegates are deemed “not yet competent” work with them to produce and deliver an action plan to help them achieve their objectives. Ensure the quality and consistency of course are being delivered for programs that you are identified as the lead trainer. Manage these training programs in accordance with business needs, regulatory requirements BSSR and ORR, and quality management systems. Assist with the management of the competency framework / matrix to ensure all operational competence is valid and in date. Assist in the implementation of new work on delivery of relevant training packages to employees, during mobilisation of projects. Full job description is available on request. What do you need to apply? Qualified to a minimum of City and Guilds/ BTEC Level 3 within an Engineering discipline Previous experience within engineering Previous experience of delivering NVQ national qualifications Previous experience working within the rail industry with the ability to motivate and encourage people Accurate report writing and record keeping Strong understanding of train depot operations and knowledge of rail vehicles would be desirable Valid assessor qualification Full and valid driving licence Please note that this role will support the training within our 6 depots therefore flexibility with regards to travel is essential for this role.
