Your new role
As a Laboratory Technician II within our Process Development team, you will play a vital role in supporting the translation of cell and gene therapy technologies into cGMP Manufacturing/Quality Control. You’ll gain hands-on experience in process design, scale-up, and documentation development for cell processing, while contributing to laboratory housekeeping, stock management, and equipment maintenance.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Work closely with Senior Development Scientists and wider Process Development team to support the development of various cell processing activities for a range of pluripotent, progenitor and immune system cells including feeding, passaging, cryopreservation and thawing of cells and sample preparation for Analytical Development and/or Quality Control assays.
* Assist in the planning of experiments and execute plans according to experimental designs.
* Shared responsibility of cell culture maintenance, including weekends.
* Support daily housekeeping activities, including, but not limited to, cleaning, stock control and ordering materials.
* Participate in the maintenance of laboratory equipment, performing in-house equipment calibration activities and working with the Facilities department to ensure all equipment is appropriately managed as per RoslinCT policies and procedures.
* Completion of non-GMP, pGMP and GMP quality related documentation in accordance with a high level of Good Documentation Practices, following all relevant standard operating procedures and instructions.
* Assist in the design of work instructions, standard forms, Standard Operating Procedures and other operational documents.
* Collect, analyse, and report operational and technical data, contributing to the identification of solutions and process improvements.
* Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation for internal and client-facing purposes.
* Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions with thoughtful insights and questions.
About You
* Ideally, you will have previous experience from a CDMO manufacturing focussed environment.
* Experience of Cell Processing methodologies and practical good aseptic techniques.
* Prior experience of supporting a cell culture focussed laboratory and its associated operations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Excellent attention to detail with a desire to continually develop and improve right first time.
* The ability to work effectively with multiple teams across the organisation.
* Ability to learn and share knowledge with the wider team where appropriate.
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work to deadline and deliver results.
* Flexible approach and willingness to work above and beyond as determined by business-critical needs and ad hoc events.
Qualifications
* The post holder should possess a Life Sciences Degree in a related subject, or equivalent training and experience.
