Job Description:
The Building Resilient Communities Shared Prosperity Funded programme works to deliver the Council’s Community Operating Model by working closely across partnerships including Town and Community Councils, Integrated Wellbeing Networks, Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, Torfaen CA and others.
The programme will focus on developing a model for enablement and empowerment of communities, enabling them and individuals to be more self-sufficient and to reduce the impact on statutory and other council services.
We are looking for a resourceful, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to make a difference to our communities in Torfaen. You should be approachable, understanding of the needs of communities, with a passion and drive to create and drive change.
The post holder will play an integral role in supporting Torfaen to achieve this by assisting all communities in the borough to enable them to support themselves. They will work closely with local community groups and members of the public to analyze the assets currently in the community and how to maximize these for the benefit of the whole community.
You will develop and build upon place-based networks, enabling stakeholders working in that community to come together to share intelligence, develop collaborative initiatives, and maximize resources to enhance community strengths.
The post holder will work closely with the wider Building Resilient Communities and CfW+ team, playing a key role in driving positive change to build resilience within Torfaen.

Qualifications / Experience:
Essential:
1. Further/higher educational qualification relevant to the post or 2 years comparable demonstrable work experience.
2. Proven experience of working with communities in a community development role.
3. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office functions.
4. Minimum of 2 years’ experience successfully delivering community projects with residents and community groups, including reporting on achieving targets.
5. Experience of engaging and increasing community participation and the development and strengthening of community hubs.
6. Demonstrates the ability to analyze and evaluate information and to make effective decisions and prioritize tasks calmly under pressure.
7. Demonstrates the ability to maintain records and record information. Analyze data and produce monitoring reports to present to Senior Management.
8. Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
9. Ability to travel around the borough in a timely manner.
