We are currently seeking a highly experienced and driven Lead Designer (Mechanical Bias) to join our team. If you have the skills, leadership qualities, and dedication to excellence, we’d love to hear from you Key Responsibilities: As the Lead Designer (Mechanical Bias), your role will include: Leading the creation and management of design programmes, ensuring timely delivery of detailed designs for procurement, manufacture, and installation. Setting design deliverables aligned with project scopes and ensuring consistency across all design elements. Collaborating with consultants and trade contractors, reviewing and validating all design deliverables for accuracy and suitability. Ensuring compliance with building codes, planning conditions, fire safety regulations, BREEAM, and other certification schemes. Proactively managing risks to prevent delays and budgetary constraints. Establishing and monitoring design schedules and ensuring deliverables are submitted via client design portals. Supporting the team in achieving sign-off for compliance requirements, including Building Control and other regulatory standards. Communicating progress updates to stakeholders, managing resources, and ensuring team alignment with project goals. Identifying and addressing design inconsistencies while striving for best practices in all design stages, from RIBA Stage 1 to Stage 3. Requirements: A high level of experience of working on residential construction projects Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills to guide and inspire your team. Strong knowledge of building regulations, standards, and codes Proficiency in using computers and key software packages relevant to mechanical design. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies or incorrect information in designs. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose alternative solutions. Ability to monitor and manage design performance to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
