T&O Trust Registrar (NHS Medical & Dental: Trust registrar) - Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We aim to recruit a high-quality individual who either wishes to optimize their experience for a future application for a national training number (NTN) or wishes to progress their career in Orthopaedic Surgery having decided not to continue to apply for an NTN.
This post is for 6 months and is due to start in February 2024.
There are 28 Consultants in the department. The majority have commitments at both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH) and Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH). Elective Lower limb arthroplasty surgery is undertaken at CGH and all Trauma, Spinal and Paediatric work is undertaken at GRH. The Directorate has developed a complete range of special interests including traumatology, spine, hip, knee, foot, ankle, shoulder, hand and paediatric surgery.
In addition, there are also 6 Associate Specialists, 2 Specialty Drs, 8 Trust Registrars, 9 Specialist Registrars, and a team of junior ward medical staff working for the Directorate over both sites.
The appointee will be expected to work with the rest of the orthopaedic team to provide orthopaedic and trauma services to the county. The post will be predominantly based in the main two hospitals with work at other community hospital sites in the county.
The appointee will be expected to work eight clinical sessions per week, which is the same as the Specialist Registrars. Most of these sessions will be fixed but there will be an annualised component to cover other clinics and lists. The appointee will also be expected to take part in the middle grade on call rota at Gloucester Royal Hospital, which is prospectively covered.
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the largest employer in the county and with over 8,000 staff, we are one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK. We offer a generous annual leave allowance, excellent bank rates, access to the excellent NHS Pension Scheme, discounts for local shops, restaurants and services, access to our health and well-being hub, access to our two on-site nurseries, flexible working options, discounted public transport, reward and recognition schemes, exercise and activity classes and membership to our popular hospital choir.
