£12.40 per hour + Excellent benefits
37.5 hours per week. Part-time hours considered with opportunities to work additional hours
Working in this 14-bedded, friendly nursing home, you will be responsible for all aspects of running a safe, clean kitchen and delivering a varied menu of healthy, delicious meals. Mealtimes are an important occasion for the people we support in their home, not just to gain good nutrition but also to socialize and enjoy flavors and colors.
You must have experience and knowledge to maintain good kitchen hygiene standards. You don’t need to be a qualified Chef; however, experience in preparing and delivering meals in a professional setting is highly desirable.
Many of the people we support have specific needs, where their food must be prepared in the right way so that they can safely enjoy their meals. For example, they may have difficulty chewing and swallowing and need softer foods prepared following IDDSI guidelines. If you don’t have experience in this, training will be provided. Others may need to manage their weight, have food intolerances, or have diabetes.
As you will be working alone in the kitchen, you will be expected to manage your workload as there will be multiple tasks that need to be carried out throughout the shift. You will also need to communicate effectively with staff and the people we support as you will be an essential part of the team that makes this home a great place to live and work.
As a Cook, your responsibilities will include:
* Food preparation and production of high-quality foods in a safe and hygienic manner
* Providing varied menu choices for people with dietary requirements following IDDSI guidelines
* Working to Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) guidelines to comply with Food Health and Safety procedures
* Adhering to daily documentation & cleaning schedules ensuring a clean safe environment determined by law and company policies
* Ordering produce in compliance with budgets
At Milestones Trust, we recognize that without the hard work, commitment, and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:
* 30 days annual leave entitlement
* Company pension scheme, with Milestones matching employee contributions up to 3% to help grow your retirement pot
* Learning and development opportunities to help you build your career, including a comprehensive induction program and the opportunity to undertake further qualifications
* Health Cash Plan on completion of probation giving you access to a minimum of £695 cash back for health treatments e.g. dental, therapies, optical, maternity/paternity, NHS prescriptions etc.
* Generous Occupational Maternity/Paternity pay
* Get paid when you want – access your money as you earn it and request your earnings before payday using Dayforce Wallet
* Access to an Employee Discount Platform from day one, with discounts and cashback for hundreds of retailers
* An employee referral scheme that allows you to earn points that can be converted to cash for family members or friends that you point in Milestones’ direction.
