Job Purpose
To train and develop members of Merseyside Police and partner agencies, under the direction of The Academy Senior Management Team, in the skills and abilities required to perform their duties effectively. This includes contributing to the research, design, preparation, delivery, and review of training courses.
Knowledge & Experience
* Recent SIO experience of Cat A & Cat B murders to deliver ISMDP & SIO courses effectively.
* A recognised police training or teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one), such as PGCE, Cert. Ed., or College of Policing standard.
* May require specific professional qualifications depending on the training program. Must remain occupationally competent to retain licensing from the awarding body (e.g., Assessor, PIP, CMI).
* Demonstrable competence and current professional knowledge in relevant areas with high transferable training skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and ensuring training content is current and relevant.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly and handle sensitive topics.
* Experience in managing diverse classroom environments and individuals with varied needs.
* Adherence to professional and ethical standards, promoting dignity, equality, and diversity.
* Strong organizational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines.
* Decision-making skills for developing individual assessments, monitoring performance, and managing competencies.
* Understanding of new technology and learning solutions applicable to policing training.
* Problem-solving skills to design effective learning solutions, incorporating innovative methodologies.
* Knowledge of policing imperatives at national, regional, and force levels to ensure training relevance.
* Adherence to standards set by COP and Merseyside Police for training research, design, delivery, and evaluation.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and adapt to operational training needs.
* Ability to provide cover for colleagues and follow directives from the Programme Manager.
