Our Kent based client is seeking an experienced Business Unit Manager to lead a high-performing team and drive operational success. Reporting to the Director / Deputy Director, this role is responsible for health & safety performance, customer service excellence, and financial performance. Based in South East England, this position may require occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
* Ensure full compliance with legal and statutory requirements for a safe working environment.
* Implement and enforce Incident Reporting Protocols.
* Lead by example through Visual Felt Leadership (VFL) safety tours.
Financial & Commercial
* Achieve and exceed EBITDA targets for the Business Unit.
* Review and manage financial performance, ensuring cost efficiency and revenue optimisation.
* Prepare mid-month, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
* Ensure accurate billing, revenue collection, and commercial compliance.
Customer Service
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring outstanding service delivery.
* Develop and implement action plans for service improvements.
* Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) align with customer expectations.
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead a team of direct and indirect reports, including agency staff and subcontractors.
* Collaborate with H&S, Sales, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, HR, and IT teams.
* Conduct performance appraisals, coaching, and disciplinary procedures in line with company policies.
Key Stakeholders
* Internal: Executive Team, Directors, Sales Managers, Finance, Business Development.
* External: Contractors, Clients, Regulatory Bodies.
Person Specification
* Significant experience in Operations Management / Warehouse Management.
* Strong background in developing and managing commercial agreements.
* Proven ability to lead major change initiatives, improve financial performance, and increase productivity.
* Skilled in communicating complex analytical data across all levels.
* Experience in external stakeholder and supplier management.
* IOSH Managing Safety / NEBOSH General Certificate (advantageous).
* Full UK Driving Licence required
