Our manufacturing client is looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join their team, ideally from a metal / alloy recycling background.

Applicant Requirements:
• Certification in Quality Control, Metallurgy, or a related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably in the metal recycling or alloy industry.
• Experience with alloy composition testing, XRF, and material inspection techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and inconsistencies in materials.
• Knowledge of alloy types, properties, and recycling processes.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents, including material specifications and quality standards.
• Strong organisational and documentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Salary £14.00+ per hour depending on experience.
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 7am - 4pm / Fridays 7am - 3pm
The QA Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all recycled alloys meet the required quality standards and specifications before they are approved for shipment or further processing. This role involves inspecting, testing, and documenting the condition, composition, and overall quality of alloy reverts, ensuring that non-conforming materials are identified and appropriately addressed.
PLEASE NOTE:
• This position may involve working in an industrial environment, which can include exposure to cold, heat, noise, and dust.
• Overseas travel to alternative sites will be required to meet the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Final Inspection of Recycled Alloys:
• Inspect all incoming and outgoing alloy reverts to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications.
• Check for contamination, foreign materials, and defects such as cracks, porosity, or surface irregularities.
• Verify the alloy composition using testing equipment (e.g., XRF tester / Niton analysis).
• Ensure materials meet dimensional, weight, and other physical standards as required.
Quality Control and Testing:
• Perform visual, physical, and XRF testing on recycled alloys to confirm that they meet required standards.
• Collaborate with all process teams, the quality control team & management to conduct more in-depth tests if necessary.
• Utilise appropriate tools and techniques to identify issues such as improper alloy composition, surface defects, or contamination.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including test reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions where applicable.
• Report any non-conformance issues to the management team.
• Document and track material quality information and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
Non-Conformance Identification and Management:
• Identify non-conformance issues related to alloy quality, composition, and appearance.
• Label and segregate non-conforming materials, ensuring proper handling and disposition.
• Work closely with the processing team to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Process Improvement:
• Provide feedback to all teams on areas of improvement or potential issues detected during inspections.
• Contribute to developing best practices and improvements in the alloy recycling process to enhance material quality and efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure timely identification and resolution of quality issues.
• Assist in training team members or operators on quality standards and inspection procedures.
Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure that all inspection activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
You will have previous experience in a metal product quality chekcing role. Job titles could include; Quality Technician / Quality Assurance / Quality Control / QA / QC / Quality Engineer / Final Inspection / other similar quality based role
