Design Engineer | AutoCAD & SolidWorks | Mechanical Engineering
Location: Worcestershire | Salary: £40,000 | Hours: Monday – Thursday (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), Friday (7:30 AM – 1:00 PM)
Are you a skilled Design Engineer with a passion for product development and innovation? Do you have expertise in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and mechanical design? This is an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and enhance engineering products for a forward-thinking company specializing in machinery and material handling solutions.
As part of a dynamic design team, you will be responsible for creating new product concepts, refining existing designs, and ensuring compliance with machinery safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Product Development – Design and develop new mechanical products and enhance existing designs while ensuring compliance with health & safety and legal regulations.
2. CAD Design & Drawings – Create 2D & 3D models, general arrangement drawings, and detailed schematics using AutoCAD & SolidWorks.
3. Prototype & Testing – Oversee the manufacture, assembly, and testing of prototypes, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers.
4. Technical Documentation – Maintain product manuals, technical drawings, and compliance documentation to align with product updates.
5. Project Management – Ensure all designs are delivered on time and within budget, following the company's product development procedures.
6. Sales & Customer Support – Assist in new product adoption, provide technical guidance to the sales team, and participate in market feedback initiatives.
7. Production & Assembly Support – Offer guidance on assembly processes, production capabilities, and maintenance/service requirements of mechanical handling equipment.
8. Site Visits & Competitor Analysis – Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate customer requirements, competitor products, and improve product designs.
Essential Skills & Experience
* HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* 2+ years of engineering design experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD & SolidWorks – Ability to create detailed 2D & 3D drawings.
* Strong mechanical design and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with product compliance, safety standards, and manufacturing processes.
* Attention to detail with excellent documentation and reporting abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Full UK Driving Licence – Willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
Desirable
* Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, conveyors, and material handling systems.
* Knowledge of production processes, fabrication, and general maintenance requirements.
