This post is for a consultant in Rheumatology. This is a part-time 6 PA post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview.CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.

Main duties of the job
We are renowned for being a very friendly department providing excellent patient centred care. We have an amazing multidisciplinary team and have a dedicated department within St Helens Hospital and provide clinics at Whiston Hospital. We offer a wide range of general and specialist clinics. New referrals are seen by all consultants, with those with confirmed early inflammatory arthritis being followed up in our dedicated nurse led early arthritis clinics. We have sub-specialty clinics including targeted therapies clinic, Ankylosing Spondylitis clinic, connective tissue/vasculitis clinic, young adults' clinic.
Traditionally the department has provided a comprehensive blood monitoring service which is facilitated by use of a computerised Rheumatology Monitoring Programme which was developed in-house and is supported by the Trust IT department. We have an active well supported research portfolio with full time research nurse.
The post holder will be supported and encouraged to develop an area of special interest.
Currently this post does not have any on call commitments.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and on Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
* MD/PHD or equivalent medical qualification.
Clinical Experience
* Evidence of achievement of competencies by time of appointment in line with DMC standards/Good Medical Practice including: Good clinical care, Maintaining good medical practice, Good relationships and communication with patients, Good working relationships with colleagues, Good teaching and training, Professional behaviour and probity, Delivery of good acute clinical care.
* Clinical training and experience to manage, supervise and offer expert clinical opinion on patients presenting to Rheumatology Department.
Teaching Experience
* Experience of supervising doctors and practitioners with the ability to teach clinical and practical skills.
* Evidence of appropriate teaching experience.
* Evidence of feedback or peer review on these skills.
* Evidence of formally supervising medical students, F1, F2, ACCS and specialist trainees.
Research Experience
* Demonstrates ability to undertake robust audit within team structure.
* Evidence of relevant research e.g. presentations, publications in peer reviewed journals.
* The ability to apply outcomes to clinical problems.
Other Attributes
* Is up to date and fit to practice safely.
