Serco Maritime have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Boatmaster to join the team in Plymouth, Devon.
As the Senior Boatmaster, your role will be to operate the vessel in a professional, effective and economical manner to Flag State and Class Standards. The Master’s first responsibility is for the safety of the vessel and its crew and passengers in compliance with STCW95, MARPOL regulations and COLREGs.
You will ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by directing the vessels resources to meet the customer’s requirements.
Main Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the safe navigation, manoeuvring and mooring of vessels.
- Ensure towing services are performed safely and efficiently.
- Responsible for the safety of the crew, vessel, and cargo at all times.
- Responsible for managing the training / orientation of all crew members.
- Ensure all measures to prevent pollution of the environment are exercised at all times.
- Ensure all publications / certificates are kept up to date.
- Ensure all Company procedures, policies, temporary instructions are received, communicated and implemented by all crew members.
- Ensure accurate vessel administration – planned maintenance / defect reporting.
- Assume Line Manager responsibilities for crew members, including undertaking Absence Manager / HR actions and conducting PDRs
- Perform safety drills on a regular basis.
- Liaise and consult with the Operations cell and Management Team as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with Customers, Management and Office Staff.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Boatmaster licence/RYA
- STCW95 Certificate of Competency for the vessel they are operating.
- All ancillary in date certificates required to gain/revalidate the above as per
- port Certification Matrices MHR 202.9.
- ENG 1 / ML5 Medical.
- 30 hour Engine Room course
- Leadership and developing people skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility of Working Hours
- Health, Safety and Risk Management awareness
- Must be able to obtain Home Office Security Clearance
