The post holder will be responsible for providing equipment support assisting in the delivery of high quality equipment management within the Emergency department. The post holder will be committed to providing best practice solutions to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and equipment management. The post holder will help provide effective medical equipment support to the Emergency Department and departments within the division.
Based in the Emergency Department, you will be expected to support other core areas within the division as required.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a professional approach and enthusiastic assistance to the ED and department staff.
2. Contribute towards creating and maintaining an environment that supports positive collaborative working.
3. Ensure trust policies and procedures are followed.
4. Ensure trust policies and procedures regarding COSHH management are followed.
5. Support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
6. Assist in the implementation and evaluation of appropriate support to the department, in line with current trust guidelines and protocols.
7. Operate within the Health and Safety and COSHH requirements for the department.
8. Act professionally regarding communication and working with contractors and staff.
9. Maintain a training portfolio in line with trust and role requirements.
10. Maintain a level of training sufficient to achieve role goals and responsibilities. Be able to analyse simple equipment faults and report appropriately.
11. Have input into changes in policy in relation to use of equipment in UEC and follow current policy in relation to role.
12. Be able to elaborate to other staff the role and who you interact with.
13. Be aware that within the clinical area there will be exposure to potentially unpleasant or distressing environments.

Job responsibilities
1. Complete performance verification, cleaning and safe delivery/storage of Beds and supported equipment as required.
2. Maintain a training portfolio in line with trust and role requirements.
3. Communicate technical equipment related information to staff, colleagues and suppliers.
4. Be able to analyse simple equipment faults and report appropriately.
5. Plan workload and prioritise broken equipment.
6. Keep equipment records up to date.
7. Be active in helping to protect valuable and expensive items of equipment.
Person Specification
Experience
* GCSE maths and English
* Good command of IT systems input and output
* Working in a hospital environment
* Fault finding on medical equipment
* Professional electronic knowledge e.g., BTEC
* Working knowledge of NHS policy
* Understanding of relevant/current national standards and guidelines for medical equipment/devices.
