This is an exciting opportunity in the TSB Legal team to support the effective management of dispute resolution. How you’ll make a difference The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of contentious cases, providing influential insight and proactive advice to stakeholders as necessary. The role holder will cover both claimant litigation and defended actions and will advise on a broad spectrum of legal issues - with a focus on commercial and reputational risk. You will act as a source of professional expertise providing proactive professional advice as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and contribute to the development of policy and procedures. The Litigation Lawyer will also provide advice and guidance to business areas on Corporate Governance or Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework. What you’ll bring • The ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in the TSB business and Legal team, providing high quality advice and support primarily relating to resolution of complaints, claims and disputes. • Well-grounded technical knowledge of litigation (substantive and procedural) and ADR techniques and hands on experience of retail banking litigation. • Knowledge of banking law and regulation and related areas including commercial contracts, fraud and operational issues. • Strong communication and influencing skills with a pro-active approach. • Delivery of legal training and effective leadership to TSB partners on specialist areas. • Ability to proactively monitor and raise awareness of external legal developments, giving insightful advice on how these affect the business. • Willingness to ‘lean in’ to wider Legal Team demands with desire to upskill in new areas and support other sub-teams, as required.
