An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 practitioner to join the High Impact User Team based in the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) Emergency Department.
This post is a key role within the wider multidisciplinary team, comprising of ED Consultant, Senior Nurses, and colleagues from specialist areas including the Homeless support team, Drug and alcohol services, Safeguarding, and Liaison Psychiatry. High Impact Users can be frequent attenders to the Emergency Department, those whose presentations need increased support or those with complex medical, psychological or social needs. The post holder will be based within the Adult Emergency Department.
The post has been created to provide co-ordination and management of High Impact Users to the Adult Emergency Department, ensuring that this group of patients are identified, safely and effectively managed, and given the best and most appropriate care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will use their expert knowledge, skills and initiative to ensure that existing systems and protocols are used for the early identification and coordination of care for High Impact users, and that these systems are maintained and updated as required.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered 1st level Nurse (RGN) and/or registered Mental Health Nurse
* Current NMC Registration
* 1st Degree in nursing or health-related subject, willing to undertake/working towards
* Post registration study in Health Promotion or related subject
* Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
* Demonstrates trust values within all aspects of practice
Skills and Abilities
* Organisation and management skills
* Able to construct and deliver teaching sessions
* Ability to work effectively under pressure
* Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
* Ability to problem solve
* Flexibility, adaptability to meet needs of a changing service

Knowledge and Experience
* Experience working directly with patients presenting to the ED with physical and/or mental health needs
* Proven team management experience
* Experience of independent/autonomous practice
* Experience of undertaking holistic health assessments and assessing complex mental health needs and social care needs as well as physical care health needs
* Experience of dealing with very complex issues
* Experience of working in partnership with voluntary/statutory agencies
* Experience of managing, supervising and monitoring Junior Members of staff and students 1:1
* Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
