Our client is a refurbishment contractor that mainly works on student accommodation projects around the UK. They're seeking a Construction Manager to join their team based in Milton Keynes. This role is perfect for a technically astute professional with strong design knowledge and a proven ability to manage projects from tender through to live on site.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead projects from inception through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
2. Work closely with design teams to provide technical input and ensure smooth design coordination.
3. Translate design concepts into practical solutions during the build phase.
4. Oversee the tender process, assist with bid preparation, and engage with contractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
5. Lead the on-site team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of projects.
6. Manage subcontractors, ensure adherence to health and safety standards, and solve on-site challenges.
7. Act as the main point of contact between clients, architects, engineers, and the wider project team to ensure that expectations are met and exceeded.
8. Identify potential risks early in the project cycle and implement strategies to mitigate them.
Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Construction Manager or similar role, ideally with a strong technical and design background.
2. Ability to manage projects from tender stage through to on-site delivery.
3. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
4. A degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
