Job Summary
The Assistant Management Accountant (AMA) is a key role for our business and our Company. You will be responsible for preparing all financial information to supplement the provision of statistical periodic reports and management accounts for the Senior Management Team. This will provide assistance to decision making and the planning of the organisational strategy to drive business success. The AMA will provide a review of profit and loss accounts and work with internal teams to collate data supplier liaison in relation to invoices and financial queries in an appropriate and timely manner. All aspects of administration to support smooth operations must be demonstrated and all behaviours in support of our values must be evident throughout your employment.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with month-end and ensuring timely closure of accounts.
2. Prepare and post journals, variance analysis, and generate management accounts and supporting packs.
3. Preparing and presenting management reports on key financial metrics.
4. Daily reporting on all transactions and postings to support the financial decisions for the business.
5. Analysing costs and expenses and identifying areas for cost control and efficiency improvements.
6. Enter journals on the General Ledger and maintain it, prepare and process prepayments and accruals, and produce the relevant daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
7. Assist with coding and inputting Accounts Payable invoices.
8. Check bank reconciliations and update cashflow statement.
9. Balance sheet reconciliations, ensure the fixed asset register and post depreciation and amortisation are maintained.
10. Responsibility for producing VAT returns, CIS returns, and National Statistics returns.
11. Assisting with monthly cost of sales reporting and helping to identify improvements and areas for investigation.
12. Assist with forecasting and budget preparation where required.
13. Creating and implementing analytical tools and reports, variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement to add value for the wider business.
14. Take responsibility for key tasks within the accounts department.
15. Work with internal and external audits and relevant stakeholders.
16. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies throughout all your actions.
17. Providing financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Skills:
* Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
* Proficiency in accounting software; Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, PeopleSoft.
* Excellent financial management skills with the ability to analyse complex data sets.
* Strong attention to detail with exceptional organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with both finance professionals and non-finance stakeholders.
