We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 child with non-verbal autism. This role is essential in ensuring the child's well-being, development, and inclusion in the learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing personal care support while maintaining dignity and comfort.
Using non-verbal communication methods (PECS, Makaton, visual schedules) to enhance engagement.
Encouraging independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Implementing individual learning strategies tailored to the child's needs.
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to create a consistent support plan.
✅ Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
✅ Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks.
✅ Familiarity with non-verbal communication techniques (PECS, Makaton, or similar).
✅ A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to learning support.
✅ Passionate about making a positive impact in SEND education.
