Job Title: Technical Director
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Benefits!
Schedule: Monday - Friday | Potential for evening and weekend work.
Location: Site-based | Some opportunities for travel/home working.
We are excited to be partnering with the UK’s premier designer, manufacturer and installer of Window Displays, Retail Furniture and Merchandising Décor in their search for a Technical Director as the business continues its global expansion! With an exciting customer base that includes high-end retail giants like Harrods, John Lewis, Apple and Louis Vuitton, this represents a unique opportunity for an experienced Design, Project Management and Manufacturing Specialist to work with the world’s top brands, on unique, bespoke installations.
You will oversee the technical aspects of the design, development, and implementation of in-store displays, pop-up shops, and experiential spaces globally. Not only will you be impacting the work of the UK team, but you will also be rolling out essential processes and strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of the global engineering and production teams. This position requires a solid technical design, manufacturing, and project management background and a deep understanding of:
1. Materials
2. Structural engineering
3. Manufacturing processes
4. Value engineering
5. Scheduling
6. Installation methods
to direct projects to successful delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct and manage creative concepts into detailed technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, and prototypes for the production departments in the UK, US, China & Milan.
2. Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing to ensure construction methods and machinery capabilities are maximised.
3. Collaborate with departments leading technical direction, including design, engineering, installations and production, to meet all technical requirements.
4. Oversee the engineering of Pop-ups, fixtures, displays, and structural elements globally, ensuring they meet quality, safety standards and functional requirements.
5. Coordinate between internal teams and subcontractors to seamlessly integrate subcontracted work into overall project execution.
6. Establish a global technical department to control and develop all technical engineering globally (UK/US/China/Milan).
7. Be responsible for troubleshooting any technical issues that arise, providing quick and effective solutions with the team of engineers and production.
This role is office-based with frequent travel to the London office, production facilities, suppliers, and client locations for on-site inspections and key installations. If you have the skills and experience to succeed in this role, please apply now!
