Due to further expansion of the practice, we are looking to recruit a Legal Executive/Paralegal.
Hybrid working is available, along with the possibility of flexible working hours.
Our firm proudly represents children and their families in respect of both education law and Health and Social Care law for disabled children and, on occasions, adults.
We are the only such firm in Northern Ireland that exclusively acts only in children’s law cases. As a result, the work we do is niche and specialist. The role provides real job satisfaction, as you are acting for and representing some of the most vulnerable members of society to enforce and protect their legal rights.
Experience in a legal aid practice is highly desirable. Experience with the Legal Services Agency LAMS system is also preferable.
You will be required to conduct matters in the following areas on behalf of clients in a timely and cost-effective manner:
1. Advising and assisting clients with legal representations to the Education Authority and Health and Social Care Trusts, and other public bodies.
2. Representation before the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
3. Attendance at seminars and lectures in the furtherance of the practice’s aims.
About You
You will need to:
1. Have strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong client relationships. IT skills are also desirable.
2. Have a commitment to delivering excellent client service.
3. Have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
4. Ideally have experience with Legal Aid work and LAMS in particular.
5. The ability to administer a case from instruction to completion is essential, with a sound knowledge of children’s law and disability law.
6. You will be required to work alongside other fee earners within the firm and adapt to sharing their caseloads as and when required without the need for constant direction.
