Specialist Cardiac Physiologist, 37.5 hour per week
Due to the opening of a new Community Diagnostic Centre in Workington in Summer 2005, we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join the Cardiology Service in the North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust. We are looking for somebody who already has experience of working in invasive procedures to join our team and support the PCI service based at the Cumberland Infirmary.
The Cardiology Department covers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures. The service has two acute sites and a newly opened Cardiac Catheter Suite at the Cumberland Infirmary as well as the community diagnostic centre. You will work on rotation through these sites.
Main duties of the job
1. Demonstrate expertise in the performance of the range of investigations carried out by the cardiology department.
2. Perform competently Cardiology Procedures including:
1. Non-Invasive: ECG, ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring, and Physiologist lead Exercise testing.
2. Invasive: Haemodynamic monitoring during invasive procedures including diagnostic Angiography, elective and emergency Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (including FFR, IVUS, OCT and IABP), Permanent Pacemaker implantation, and pacemaker follow-up. ICD follow-up and deactivation.
3. Support will be available for areas where training is required.
4. Potential opportunities for training in echo.
5. Participate in the on-call rota for Primary PCI.
6. Support Trainees and more junior members of staff training within the department.
