Senior Accountant Job Overview
* Take ownership of your own client portfolio, ensuring outstanding client service.
* Prepare draft financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies for managerial review.
* Complete draft business tax computations, ready for the tax manager's review.
* Assist partners in finalising client meetings, including preparation of assignment highlight documentation.
* Attend client finalisation meetings alongside partners and provide necessary support.
* Conduct external audits from planning to completion.
* Review junior team members' work, providing constructive feedback to maintain quality and accuracy.
* Sign off final accounts for limited companies.
* Respond to bookkeeping, taxation, and general accounting queries from clients; escalate as needed.
* Prepare ad-hoc management accounts for clients as required.
* Plan and manage own workload effectively to meet deadlines and ensure timely sign-off.
* Maintain accurate client files and documentation in line with internal standards and deadlines.
* Record chargeable time and ensure the recovery of all billable hours.
* Support and mentor junior staff, answering queries and fostering professional growth.
* Utilise various accounting platforms including SAP, IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Line 50, and CCH Central.
Senior Accountant Job Requirements
* ACA or ACCA qualified with solid experience in a practice environment.
* Proven experience managing a client portfolio and building client relationships.
* Confident preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and business tax computations.
* Skilled in external audit procedures (advantageous) and finalising accounts.
* Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to support junior colleagues.
* Comfortable managing client meetings and delivering tailored advice.
* Proficient with a range of accounting software and cloud-based platforms.
Senior Accountant Salary & Benefits
* Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (8:30 AM - 5 PM, flexible with a 1-hour lunch)
* Holidays: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + 3 additional days over Christmas
