Corporate and Delivery Directorate works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.
This role is part of the Professional Services team which supports the whole of the Home Office to secure external resources and services such as Contingent Labour and the consultancy services which partner with our teams to deliver key activities and programmes. Professional Service is a fast paced and high-profile category of spend which comes under regular scrutiny from senior officials, Ministers and external bodies.
These roles could be of interest to individuals who have worked in a commercial environment and are looking to broaden their commercial skills in a central commercial function, those with strong transferrable skills or to existing commercial staff who would enjoy taking on a new role.
We are seeking a hard-working individual to work at SEO level to support the delivery of the Professional Service team, which is undergoing a significant change programme, including the introduction of new automated ways of working, a move to a category management approach and establishing a new post-award assurance function. This is an exciting time to join a team which is on a continuous improvement journey.
Successful candidates will receive a programme of development with the opportunity to study towards professional commercial qualifications.
The successful candidates will be required to lead on some of the following:
* Work with business colleagues and external suppliers to set the new post-award assurance approach for managed services and consultancy. Assuring contract delivery of milestones, with funds released as appropriate.
* Provide professional services commercial guidance to peers and senior colleagues that draws on relevant procurement legislation, policy, information, supply market knowledge and commercial experience, while understanding business need. Maintain awareness of developments in procurement policy and commercial case law.
* Ensure a full audit trail for each managed service and consultancy review, embracing the continuous improvement programme including adapting to new ways of working such as automation and category management.
* Identify commercial risks, ensuring understanding, recording, and managing through all stages of the procurement, and ongoing risks transfer seamlessly into contract management.
* Identify savings, ensuring understanding, recording, and managing through all stages of the procurement and contract management.
* Gather lessons learned from the assurance process and ensure these are documented to inform future projects and influence improvements in commercial processes, systems and skills.

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available .
