Key Responsibilities
:
– Provide legal advice and representation to clients in criminal defence cases
– Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective case progression
– Prepare and review legal documents, including prosecution evidence, briefs to Counsel and dealing with the Legal Aid Agency
– Conduct thorough legal research and analysis
– Attend Court hearings, conduct trials, and provide representation at Police stations
– Negotiate with prosecutors and other legal professionals to secure favourable outcomes for clients
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, Court diary and case files
– Stay informed about changes in criminal law and legal precedents
– Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure high-quality service delivery
Qualifications:
– Qualified Duty Solicitor with a current practicing certificate
– Ideally at least 2 years PQE in criminal defence law
– Strong knowledge of criminal law and legal procedures
– Excellent advocacy and negotiation skills
– Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively and achieve financial targets
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
