The Clinical Psychology Interventions Service in prison healthcare operates within the Adult Mental Health Services of NHSGGC. The service provides psychological assessment and treatment for people with mental disorder who may present a risk of serious harm to themselves and/or others. Referrals to the service are currently accepted from NHS and SPS colleagues, criminal justice social workers and forensic psychologists.
Psychologists in the service typically work across two prisons, often training and supervising other team members in psychological assessment/treatment. The postholder will provide clinical leadership within the service and develop PT skills in the wider workforce, supporting the increasing training and supervision demands of trainees, nursing colleagues, and the wider PT workforce. Members of the service lead on or contribute to various aspects of the running of prison healthcare and contribute similarly to the wider psychology network across the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area, according to their managerial, research or clinical expertise.
It is essential you have a Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology with current Registration with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist. You should also have significant supervised clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist.
Significant experience of working within a multi-disciplinary setting within Adult Mental Health within the NHS is essential. Experience of working in forensic mental health is desirable. The post requires the ability to travel to bases across the Board Area.
