Chief Inspector Position
Due to expansion, my client in South Molton is in need of a Chief Inspector. This position is responsible for executing the defined Strategic Quality Plan in conjunction with plant leadership. Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners, and internal manufacturing cells while participating in continuous improvement activities.
2. Leading complaint resolution and root cause and corrective action execution.
3. Supporting and driving the Quality Team in the manufacturing area relative to the collection and analysis of quality data, ensuring product and process quality requirements are implemented through EQS Policies and Quality Best Practice deployment.
4. Solving technical product/process and business process problems utilizing structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma, etc.
5. Executing the development, implementation, and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation.
6. Participating in the auditing of internal Quality Systems and completing part approval documentation to assure customer requirements are met.
7. Analyzing organizational quality metrics and performing periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close gaps at an operational level.
8. Developing and analyzing statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements.
9. Contributing to the design and implementation of quality assurance training programs.
10. Participating in product development and launch activities, including identification of customer expectations and reliability analysis.
11. Providing support in the development and evaluation of process capability and process control plans.
12. Developing, implementing, and auditing inspection and test plans, standards, and procedures/work instructions.
13. Investigating and eliminating causes of quality problems and following up on corrective actions.
14. Participating in the design, procurement, maintenance, and evaluation of gages, measurement instruments, and test equipment.
Skills Required:
1. Ability to lead a small team of Quality personnel to drive performance.
2. Thorough understanding of problem-solving methods such as Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and associated statistical tools.
3. Knowledge and understanding of Quality System requirements.
4. Detailed understanding of the key phases and requirements of an effective new product development and launch methodology.
5. Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, pFMEA, Critical to Quality characteristics, Control plans, etc.
6. Knowledge of industry and customer-specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (i.e., ISO9001, EASA Part 21, AS9100, etc.).
7. Knowledge of System and process auditing techniques to ensure compliance with defined quality requirements.
8. Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams.
