The Highways Operative plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our roadways and transport infrastructure. Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of highways and roads to identify maintenance and repair needs.
Repair and maintain road surfaces, drainage systems, and roadside signs.
Install, maintain, and remove road markings as required for traffic management.
Assist in managing traffic flow during roadworks and maintenance activities.
Operate and maintain highway maintenance equipment, such as sweepers and trucks.
Respond promptly to emergency situations, including road debris and accidents.
Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient workflow and safety compliance.
Requirements
Previous experience in highway maintenance or a related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations governing road works.
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including outdoor environments in various weather situations.
Valid driver's license and any additional required certifications for operating maintenance equipment.
Good communication skills to interact with team members and the public effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to changing situations.
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
Hours Per Week: 37.50
Start Time: 08:00
End Time: 16:00
Pay Per Hour £12.18
