The Role
As the Backend Tech Lead, you will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, resilient, and compliant backend systems that support our mission. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the technical excellence of our platform, driving innovation, and mentoring team members to achieve success together.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deploy and develop back-end systems to power robust and scalable solutions across multiple domains
2. Drive the design and development of solutions that ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements
3. Provide hands-on guidance and contribute to the codebase when necessary, ensuring alignment with the 12-Factor App methodology
4. Utilise expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and reactive frameworks like WebFlux/Project Reactor to deliver scalable and performant solutions
5. Lead cloud-native development efforts, deploying systems on Kubernetes and AWS, while maintaining flexibility for multi-cloud strategies
6. Build and support systems that ensure reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance
7. Collaborate with compliance, product, and other cross-functional teams to address key requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives
8. Partner with the Team Lead to align technical direction with strategic goals and delivery priorities
9. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the team
10. Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers and other teams, to maintain integration and consistency
11. Establish and uphold high standards for code quality, performance, and reliability
12. Develop or leverage expertise in payments and FinTech to inform architectural decisions and contribute to the team's strategy
To be successful in this role, you:
1. Have extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying API-first, cloud-native back-end systems
2. Are highly proficient in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and reactive frameworks like WebFlux/Project Reactor, with a strong understanding of cloud resilience patterns
3. Have hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms like AWS, with a solid understanding of multi-cloud strategies
4. Have a strong grasp of the 12-Factor App methodology and understand its application in modern software development
5. Are passionate about mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence within a team
6. Are comfortable collaborating with non-technical stakeholders, such as compliance teams, to align technical solutions with business requirements
7. Are results-driven with a focus on reliability, performance, and security
8. Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contributing to technical discussions and decisions
