Forseven, a revolutionary company is looking to transform the EV industry through cutting-edge technology and innovative engineering practices, are seeking a Technical Specialist - Metallic Materials to join our highly skilled and dynamic Research & Development team. The role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of our offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field. Reporting to the Director of Research and Development, you will be providing expert guidance and support across various projects involving metallic materials, including metals, alloys, and related manufacturing processes. What you will do: Technical Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on metallic materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, their properties, processing methods, and performance in various applications. Research & Development Support: Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new alloys and improve existing materials, ensuring they meet the required performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness criteria. Consultation & Advisory: Provide expert advice and technical consultation to internal teams, including engineering, product development, quality assurance, and manufacturing, on the selection and use of metallic materials. Process Optimization: Analyze and advise on production methods, including casting, forging, extrusion, welding, and heat treatment, to optimize material performance and reduce costs. Industry Standards & Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.), and regulatory requirements, ensuring that all materials and processes comply with the relevant codes and specifications. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Lead efforts to identify and resolve issues related to material performance, manufacturing defects, and failure analysis in metallic components or products. Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor junior engineers, technical staff, and cross-functional teams on the properties and applications of metallic materials. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentations on material properties, advancements, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers, customers, and external partners to ensure materials meet the desired specifications and application needs. Who you are: Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. (Master's or PhD preferred) or equivalent experience Hands on experience working with metallic materials in an automotive, aerospace, manufacturing or engineering environment. In-depth understanding of metallic properties, heat treatment processes, and failure analysis. Experience with material selection, testing methods, and performance evaluation. Strong background in specific industries such as automotive, aerospace or manufacturing would be beneficial. Proven ability to solve complex technical problems related to metallic materials and processes.
