Key Responsibilities of a Registered Manager
This opportunity will see you lead and inspire your own team. With your guidance, the team will ensure that the children and young people living within the home have the very best care, great role models, and a place to call home.
As the Registered Manager, you are required to provide effective leadership, governance, and management. It is your responsibility to secure, sustain, and promote the reputation and daily operation of the home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality holistic care and creating a caring environment conducive to individual needs and practice research development within the legislative framework of quality assurance.
The key responsibilities are:
* Take responsibility for all aspects of the operation of the home, by providing overall leadership and management.
* Undertake direct work to ensure the delivery of high-quality physical and emotional care in a safe and comfortable environment, in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Lead and manage the home in accordance with the approach, ethos, and outcomes within the home’s ‘Statement of Purpose’.
* Consult with and work in partnership with children and young people, their families, and associated professionals to progress the aims of the home and the care plans of individual children and young people.
* Ensure the home is fully prepared and ready for regular Ofsted inspections by ensuring the monitoring of practice through your own supervision of the Registered Manager, scrutiny of Regulation 44 and 45 reports, and any other reports concerning the home, including Ofsted inspections and compliance visits from Local Authorities.
* Initiate and lead management processes which result in the delivery of continuous improvement.
* Ensure that all staff receive regular supervision and annual performance reviews.
* Deal with performance, conduct, and attendance issues promptly and according to Direct Care’s Children’s Home’s policies and procedures.
* Manage and allocate resources, including budgets, staff, equipment, and vehicles.
* Ensure that communication is effective, and records are accurate and evidence the work undertaken and rationale for decision making.
* Safer recruitment of staff and performance management.
* Responsible for effective management of budgets and amenities accounts.
Hours of Work
As a Registered Manager, you will be contracted to work 40 hours a week, which involves working Monday to Friday. However, depending on the needs of the home, you may be required to work a shift from 10 am to 10:30 am, which involves a sleep-in and working weekends.
On-call will be a requirement of the role of Registered Manager, which will be worked on a rota basis with the Deputy Manager and Team Leaders within the home.

We are looking for someone who holds:
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
* At least 2 years in a role supervising and managing staff.
* A level 3 diploma in residential child care within required timescales (or hold an equivalent qualification).
* The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
* A “Good” or “Outstanding” grade within your recent Ofsted Inspections.
* A full UK driving licence which you’ve held for 12 months or longer.
