Job Title: Christian Chaplain
Location: Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre (IRC)

Employment Type: Part-Time (10 hours per week over 2 days)
Salary: £6,593.00 per annum
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Christian Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy team at Derwentside IRC. This is a unique opportunity to provide person-centered spiritual care and support to detainees and staff, fostering hope and positive reintegration into communities. The role is integral to promoting religious and cultural understanding in a multi-faith environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide pastoral care and spiritual welfare to detainees and staff.
* Deliver faith-specific services and support the observance of religious festivals.
* Offer expert faith-based advice to the establishment.
* Acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature and resources.
* Organize and lead awareness programs, including bereavement support.
* Collaborate with the Security and Safer Custody teams to address detainee welfare concerns.
* Assist with resettlement efforts by building relationships with faith communities and support agencies.
* Support and mentor staff and volunteers, providing personal and spiritual guidance.
* Maintain Chaplaincy facilities and ensure proper administration of records and events.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience in delivering religious services, ideally in a secure or multi-faith environment.
* Proven professionalism and competence in religious and pastoral leadership.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle crisis events.
* Working knowledge of other faiths to support a multi-faith environment.
* Commitment to personal spiritual growth and development.
Additional Requirements:
* Ability to contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and collaborate with various teams.
* Familiarity with policies on safer custody, violence reduction, and suicide/self-harm awareness.
