If so, we would love to hear from you The role of the Property & Casualty Package Underwriter is a crucial part of Chubb's Midlands and South Independent broker team, based in Birmingham. Your responsibilities will include managing the growth of the portfolio with a select panel of brokers and clients. This position operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. In this role, you will be expected to develop underwriting authority over time as you grow your technical expertise and exercise it within Chubb's guidelines and best practices. Positive interaction with underwriting management is also a key aspect of the position. You will collaborate and work closely with various teams, including sales and distribution, other lines of business, operations, claims, global services, risk engineering and the national underwriting centre. Key Responsibilites: Underwriting and growing a portfolio of new and renewal business within the independent broker segment, in line with individual targets and overall business plan. Assisting in processing policy endorsements, renewals, and cancellations. Regularly engaging with producers and BDMs to develop key opportunities and manage renewals, understanding key drivers, tailoring underwriting solutions and pricing and negotiating accordingly to successfully close a suitable percentage. Consistently providing exceptional underwriting service to stakeholders. Collaborating with other lines of business, risk engineering, global services, claims, operations and senior underwriters to effectively deliver the Chubb proposition. Maintaining underwriting integrity by adhering to Chubb's best practices. Keeping accurate underwriting records and subject to monitoring through regular peer reviews. Representing and promoting Chubb to the assigned broker panel, along with the BDMs and other lines of business. Building strong relationships with brokers through engagement with key producers and exhibiting effective trading behaviors. Maximizing cross-selling opportunities and monitoring new business and retention metrics. Conducting business ethically within Chubb's code of conduct, compliance guidelines, underwriting guidelines, quality and timeliness standards for policy documentation and other service standards. An advocate for the Chubb brand, building and maintaining an excellent external reputation. Demonstrating behaviors consistent with Chubb's values, ethics, culture, and service standards, both internally and externally. Qualifications Some experience in property and/or casualty underwriting, a working knowledge of the insurance market, and familiarity with broker and client interactions. Results-driven mindset with the ability to work independently. Dynamic approach to business development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Willingness to continuously learn and enhance technical knowledge and skills. Adaptability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adjust to shifting priorities. Customer-centric mindset with exceptional interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A-Levels or higher (Degree/ACII or progress towards) preferred but not essential. What can you expect in return?
