This means day to day; you’ll be working closely with the other Engineers in Squads ensuring the platform is fit for purpose and evolving to meet the needs of the product. Also, within the Platform team, you’ll work with the Lead Platform Engineer and other Platform Engineers across the Squads to implement the overall Platform roadmap and strategy. Responsibilities Your role will be to understand the needs of the team and product, and then translate that into the necessary platform requirements. Your role will be responsible for: Helping to build and improve the cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform Assisting developers with the CI pipeline (CircleCI) and build tools Creating and maintaining operational runbooks and alerts Building multi-cluster Kubernetes structures all across the globe Supporting a globally dispersed frontend with local APIs in each country API orchestration Cloud level performance monitoring: Backstage.io, Prometheus and Grafana As part of the Platform team, you will be responsible for: Attending the Team meetings, discussing and communicating what platform requirements are needed by the Squad and how you can help other Squad needs. Working with the Lead Platform Engineer on the strategy for the products to ensure they are scalable and performant. What are we looking for? A passion for engineering and continuous learning A pragmatic approach, someone with the ability to understand the big picture (business, product and tech), factor in all considerations and choose the best way forward A mindset of taking ownership, identifying and solving problems, able to navigate complex challenges. Good understanding of developer needs: Translate developer challenges into actionable platform improvements. CI/CD experience: Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery. Cloud infrastructure expertise: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience. Ideally with GCP (happy with AWS or Azure) Strong automation skills: Infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform for automated infrastructure provisioning. Docker and Kubernetes: Experience with containerisation technologies and ideally Kubernetes clusters. Bash/Python scripting: Utilise scripting languages for automation and infrastructure management tasks. Agile principles: Understand and advocate for agile methodologies in software development. Coding skills: Experience in any programming language, with Go, Java or Python being highly valued. A huge plus would be: Experience in Backstage.io Experience with MongoDB Atlas.
