National Express are recruiting an experienced Technician to join our Engineering team at our Worthing location. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective repair, servicing, diagnosis and inspection of vehicles. You will be expected to carry out all maintenance activities to ensure the fleet is compliant, roadworthy, safe and reliable to meet operational demands. You will contribute towards a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
What you'll do:
* Manage the fleet and manage all vehicle repairs; either repair directly on site or liaise with relevant repair locations to organise
* Be the engineering contact for all engineering issues with your fleet
* Progress any work allocated, both planned and unplanned, within the appropriate shift
* Diagnose and investigate faults on vehicles, where required using specialist diagnostic equipment, to carry out effective, appropriate, sustainable repairs
* Undertake mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs, and where required, carry out vehicle road tests on completion of repairs
* Provide technical knowledge and advice to colleagues and key stakeholders
* Organise and order spare parts for site
* Complete all vehicle records on the Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) for the fleet
* Work within Company procedures to identify, order and return parts where necessary.
* Inspect vehicles to company standards and identify, record and rectify defects as appropriate.
* Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained in line with company standards
* Attend and participate in training courses
* Progress any modifications, technical instructions or urgent safety checks as required
* Complete all necessary documentation and systems, in line with Company procedures, to ensure that comprehensive and accurate maintenance records are kept.
What you'll need:
* IMI Level III Bus and Coach Engineering & Maintenance or Equivalent (including Heavy Vehicles)
* Minimum of 3 years experience of working in a vehicle maintenance environment
* IRTEC Vehicle Inspection
* IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician
* Full CAT D PCV licence or willingness to work towards
* IOSH qualification, or willingness to work towards
