Have you got what it takes to provide specialist support and advice to patients with cancer?
Are you highly motivated and driven to oversee, co-ordinate and improve patient care?
Do you possess exceptional communication, interpersonal, clinical, and professional leadership skills to encourage and promote best outcomes for patients, their relatives, and carers?
If so, this could be the opportunity for you!
If successful you will be responsible for delivering specialist cancer care across organisational, professional, and geographical boundaries working both autonomously and as part of a dedicated team.
This role is your gateway to a rewarding career in oncology. Bring your passion and drive and let us help you become the best cancer nurse you can be.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust providing specialist nursing advice and support to patients receiving Non-Surgical Oncology (NSO) outpatient care away from their usual, local hospital.
Be responsible for supporting the patient whilst attending that NSO outpatient appointment, identifying and addressing any supportive care needs and communicating these effectively back to the trust CNS team in order that care is seamless and not fragmented.
Provide input and care to patients from each of the four respective trusts outside the tertiary centre (Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, and Chesterfield) and become a regular and therefore familiar point of contact for patients attending, enabling greater continuity by acting as a conduit between the patient and their site specific CNS team.
About us
You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 8 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
All staff recruited post February 2020 are required and it is a condition of employment that they are also able, to undertake duties at any of the other sites where Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is responsible for delivering cancer treatment activity. It is anticipated that this may include the hospitals at Barnsley, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Doncaster as well as any other sites within the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Cancer Network.
