Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager with a strong background in Rail and Energy Civils, particularly within substation design and supporting design management across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both Rail and Grid projects, with a track record of successfully delivering civil design packages in these sectors. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse, challenging projects in South West London.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage design packages for various Rail and Grid projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery across all phases.
2. Act as the central point of coordination for substation design requirements, ensuring all designs align with project specifications and regulatory standards.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and external consultants, to oversee project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
4. Conduct design reviews to ensure alignment with project objectives, safety standards, and client specifications.
5. Provide guidance and support to design teams, addressing technical queries and challenges to ensure seamless project execution.
6. Identify risks and proactively manage design changes, coordinating necessary adjustments to meet project milestones and budgets.
7. Prepare and present regular design progress updates and reports for stakeholders.
8. Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience in design management within Rail and Energy Civils, specifically with a focus on substation projects.
2. Solid understanding of civil design requirements for Rail and Grid projects, including industry standards and regulatory requirements.
3. Experience managing design packages across multiple projects, balancing time, budget, and resource constraints.
4. Demonstrable knowledge of industry-specific software and design tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Chartered status or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field (desirable).
2. Prior experience on projects within Rail Infrastructure and Grid Connections sectors.
