GSL Education are seeking a proactive and empathetic SEN School Care Assistant to join a welcoming school in Dorchester. This rewarding role involves working closely with students with SEN to ensure they have the resources, encouragement and support they need to achieve their educational goals.
About the Role:
As a SEN School Care Assistant, you will provide vital support to students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and complex needs. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will assist students with their academic, social, and personal development, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and encouraged in their learning journey.
Responsibilities of SEN School Care Assistant:
* Providing one-on-one and group support to enhance engagement and learning.
* Supporting students with SEN, autism, physical disabilities, or communication difficulties.
* Helping to manage challenging behaviours and emotional regulation.
* Assisting with classroom activities and adapting materials for individual needs.
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to implement tailored learning plans.
* Ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience in SEN support, care work, or education (desirable but not essential).
* A caring and patient approach when working with students with additional needs.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff and families.
* Basic knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and SEN support (training can be provided).
* Relevant qualifications in care, SEN support, or education (desirable but not mandatory).
* The ability to adapt to different care needs and learning environments.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
* Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one through GSL Education.
