To support the Head of Service in the development, management and delivery of an efficient and effective Intensive Personalised Support (IPS) service for children/young people and adults who have enhanced needs and behaviours that some may find challenging, their families, and other stakeholders. In the Head of Services absence, you will deputise and administer service delivery.
Main duties of the job
ABL Health are delivering an Intensive Personalised Support (IPS) Service for Children and Young People across Greater Manchester and the North West. The IPS service works intensively with families and young people to improve quality of life for individuals accessing the service. IPS has a highly skilled team of clinical professionals delivering evidence-based interventions focusing on keeping children with their families and out of hospitals and residential care.
This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Intensive Personalised Support (IPS) service, with a primary focus on building and strengthening referral pipelines from external stakeholders. The role plays a pivotal part in coordinating a cohesive team to ensure effective intervention delivery. This involves working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. A major emphasis is placed on actively developing and nurturing relationships with external partners to increase referrals, ensuring the service reaches those who need it most. Job responsibilities
1. Oversee the coordination and conversion of incoming referrals to the IPS service, ensuring that children, young people, their families, and professionals receive the highest quality behavioural support in an efficient and organized manner, with families at the centre of all decisions and actions, enabling the client to thrive in a stable home environment.
2. Develop and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, promoting a positive image of our service within local authorities to encourage and secure additional referrals.
3. Serve as a formal representative of the IPS service at conferences and other professional events, engaging with commissioners and social workers. This involves effectively communicating the goals, achievements, and impact of the IPS service, fostering collaboration and partnerships, and advocating for the needs of the young people and families we support. Utilise these opportunities to share best practices, gather feedback, and enhance the visibility of the service within the community and among key stakeholders.
4. Review multidisciplinary reports and social care assessments, including SEN, and conduct functional assessments of behaviours, risk assessments, and other relevant evaluations. Work collaboratively with the client and other professionals to ensure that the team can carry out meaningful, targeted interventions.
5. Act as the Head of Service in their absence to ensure seamless continuity of service operations.
6. Offer ongoing supervision, guidance and direct coaching to support team development, enhance skills, and ensure high-quality service delivery through mentorship and real-time feedback.
7. Contribute significantly to the recruitment process and ensure that new IPS team members receive comprehensive training to high standards, promoting competent and high-quality service delivery.
8. Assist in the daily management of support workers and Assistant Psychologists.
9. Help manage the daily allocation of new cases, ensuring consistency and efficiency in scheduling, including rotas and annual leave.
10. Actively participate in reviewing and monitoring processes to ensure efficiency within the team.
11. Provide fair and balanced feedback and support to staff and family members, while recognising and addressing areas of poor practice and institutionalised culture.
12. Ensure that all service delivery is reviewed for each client on a frequent basis.
13. Ensure that the service collaborates with the young person or adult and all key individuals in their life, including family, friends, caregivers, and other professionals. Actively involve these stakeholders in assessments, defining targets, implementing interventions, and conducting reviews, ensuring that the clients voice guides all interventions.
14. Share insights and learning from the service to benefit other stakeholders by developing case studies and utilising feedback to enhance the effectiveness of the IPS service.
15. Ensure that all ABL policies and procedures are clearly understood and effectively implemented by staff, encompassing areas such as behaviour support, quality assurance, regulatory frameworks, safeguarding, child protection, criminal records, data protection, HR, and health and safety.
16. Ensure all relevant records in relation to the young people we support, and employees are appropriately maintained and up to date and compiled and delivered as required for/to relevant authorities.
17. Identify potential issues and take proactive measures to prevent service breakdowns, address complaints, and mitigate various risks by liaising with parents, families, and other professionals.
18. Provide on-call support and assistance when required across evenings and weekends.
19. Work flexibly and adapt to suit the service need.
20. Support the service in promotion and growth objectives.

Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 Health and Social care.
* Registered Social Worker.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years within a managerial/supervisory role.
* Experience of management in an OFSTED/CQC registered environment.
Skills & Knowledge
* Familiar in the health and social care commissioning environment.
* Familiarity with CQC (Care Quality Commission) governance requirements.
* Experience working within the health and social care sector.
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.
* Experience of working with children/YP and their families within a community setting.
* Ability to operate effectively within safeguarding procedures while delivering services in a therapeutic context.
