A leading NHS organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Safety professional within their Estate and Facilities Division. The client is looking for an interim for 3 months initially.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivering the Trust's Fire Safety Training Programme and managing the process for Fire Risk Assessments within Trust occupied buildings (including offsite premises).
2. Undertaking Fire Safety Audits.
3. Responding to day-to-day Fire Safety matters and concerns.
4. Updating and maintaining Fire Safety Documents to ensure compliance with Fire Safety legislation.
5. Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders.
6. Providing expert advice on fire legislation and technical advice on the application and interpretation of fire safety guidance, including the Department of Health FIRECODE suite of advice documents.
7. Managing Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and reviewing current FRAs where necessary.
8. Maintaining an awareness of changes in fire safety legislation and guidance to ensure the Trust meets its obligations around Fire Safety.
9. Carrying out regular inspections of work sites to ensure that fire safety is being maintained.
10. Providing recommendations on proposals for new build/refurbishment projects.
11. When requested, providing advice on general and specialist fire precautions, fire engineering issues, and legislation.
12. Ensuring all wards, departments, and units have local plans in place detailing the actions to be taken in case of fire, ensuring these are reviewed regularly and their contents understood by staff.
13. Understanding the work practices of wards and departments throughout the Trust and ensuring that fire safety measures are compatible with the operational compatibility of the Trust.
Minimum Requirements:
A successful candidate will have:
1. Qualifications in Fire Safety attained at Fire Service Technical College, Local Authority Fire Safety Training, or from other approved bodies.
2. Desirable experience of working in Fire Safety in the Healthcare Sector.
3. Experience of delivering Fire Safety training at all levels.
4. Experience of reviewing building plans and specifications for fire safety compliance.
