We are pleased to announce an incredible, new career opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Quantitative Analyst to join our Quantitative Engineering team within the Asset Management (AM) function. Joining at this early stage you will be working in a fast paced and greenfield environment to lead the embedding of quantitative tools in Asset Management and lead the technology build for a new reporting function.

Reporting To: Head of Quantitative Engineering
Location: This role will ideally be based in our London office, with time spent between home and the office, and some travel between our Phoenix offices. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

The role
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and implementing quantitative tools and models while also contributing to stakeholder engagement, documentation, training, and project management. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and a strong understanding of the life insurance industry. The role will require engagement with various teams across AM, Retirement Solutions, Actuarial, Finance, and Compliance.
Quantitative Engineering is a newly established team within Phoenix Asset Management. Working side by side with our portfolio managers, actuaries, and structurers, Quants develop tools and models that enable us to make agile informed decisions to optimize our assets and risk and identify market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Testing and Quality Assurance:
o Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for quantitative models and tools
o Perform rigorous testing to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial models
o Identify and resolve issues in existing models and processes
* Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with various departments and support the Quantitative Product Engineers in scoping projects and gathering technical requirements
o Conduct training sessions for end-users on new quantitative tools and models
o Communicate complex quantitative concepts to non-technical stakeholders
o Ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with project progress
* Documentation:
o Create and maintain detailed documentation for models, processes, and methodologies
o Develop user guides and technical specifications for quantitative tools
* Effective delivery of quantitative tools and projects:
o Contribute to the development and implementation of models and tools
o Assist in planning and executing quantitative projects
o Ensure timely and efficient delivery of solutions to end users
o Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and resources
o Identify and mitigate potential risks to project success
o Decommission existing tools and spreadsheets (“EUCs”) that are being replaced

Personal Attributes
We're looking for a pro-active and self-motivated individual, who adopts a “get things done” attitude and takes pride in their delivery of quality work. This role will suit someone with strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. We're also looking for someone who is an effective communicator who can adapt and translate technical information to a variety of audiences.
Qualifications
You will hold a University Degree or ideally Masters’ Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
Knowledge & Experience:
Track record of working with teams to deliver technical projects – ideally you will have worked on a number of different projects. Knowledge of the UK life insurance regulatory landscape including Solvency II. Strong experience with Excel / VBA. Ability to write good documentation.
